DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established  during the year  2001-2002 Recognized by AICTE and affiliated to Anna University with an intake of 60. The Department offers a four year degree program in Computer Science and Engineering with an annual intake increased to 120 students from the year 2006-2007 and two year M.E program in Computer Science and Engineering with an annual intake of 18 students from the year 2010-2011.  

  
Computers in every kind of application need professional engineers to design set up and maintain high quality systems. The course provides a thorough grinding in electronics & interfacing, computer structures, engineering systems, application & system software. Department of Computer Science & Engineering has always been on a high growth and path since its establishment. To keep pace with latest technologies, department has employed experienced and dedicated faculty with strong commitment towards research work. The students, under the able guidance of faculty members, are extensively using these facilities. PCs in each lab are connected using LAN.    

          
The Department is well equipped with hardware as well as Software facilities and has more than 185 computer systems and fully air-conditioned programming labs, Internet laboratories. The labs consist of most advanced Dual Core , Core 2 Duo & Core i3 systems with Windows XP professional operating systems and servers with Windows Server 2003,2008,Linux and Redhat.

All the labs are LAN connected with licensed software packages related to latest global techniques. 20 Mbps BSNL internet with Wi-Fi facility is provided so that the students can develop and sharpen their technical skills. Students have opportunities of working on live projects received from reputed national and international companies. The department has following labs with latest software and configurations:

Several students of the department have participated in workshops, seminars and expert lectures, etc. to enhance their outlook and knowledge. Students will be under the meticulous care of the faculty. Separate counselors are appointed to monitor and guide groups of students in proper way.Various Industrial visits organized by the department gives the vision of Industry atmosphere to the student .

The Department is dedicated to education, research and overall excellence. The students are well placed in reputed industries as well as continuing higher education in the premier institutes. Department is actively involved in co-curricular and extracurricular activities with associations and professional bodies. The department regularly conducts special courses on advanced topics.

 The Department has signed MOUs with leading companies like IBM,Redhat,Microsoft,Cisco  to provide training and placement to students. The Department has a good record of organizing guest lecture, seminars, workshops and conferences in emerging technological areas. The department provides in-house EDUSAT facility for viewing distance learning programs beamed by Anna University. Many of the alumni are holding key positions in reputed organizations within the country as well as abroad.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering has been accredited for 3 years by NBA-AICTE
